Eco Evie - every bit helps!
StoryWalk
A StoryWalk® is a line of displays (each with a page of a story) that runs along a path, so as you walk along the path, you read the story. The StoryWalk® concept was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson. www.kellogghubbard.org/storywalk
These are examples of other StoryWalks to get a sense of what this one will look like.
My version of the StoryWalk® will be located at Halmos Park in Poolesville, Maryland.
Halmos Park: 16981 Hoskinson Rd, Poolesville, MD 20837
My StoryWalk will feature, Eco Evie - Every Bit Helps!, a story written by me about Eco Evie going through her day and learning about all the ways she can help the environment.
To illustrate it I am hosting an art contest at the four schools in the Poolesville area, including more than 2,152 students. The art contest is also open to home-schooled students. A panel of student "judges" will choose the illustrations for the displays. (Click on the tab at the top of the page to get the details.)
A sample of the photos taken of Eco Evie around the world will be on the last display as well as the Facebook group address (www.facebook.com/groups/EcoEvie/) and this website address, so StoryWalk participants can learn about the "Where in the World is Eco Evie?"part of the project.

The Eco Evie - Every Bit Helps! StoryWalk will combine art with an increased awareness of environmental issues.
- It will educate not only the students participating in the art contest and helping build the displays, but also the community members who visit the well-used park.
- It will get residents outdoors, encourage physical activity, literacy and family time in nature.
- Since the displays will be permanent, the project will last for a long time and have a lasting impact.
